Racial discrimination has no place in our society and as law students and future lawyers, it is our duty to advocate for equality, uphold the rule of law and ensure that every Fijian is treated with dignity and fairness.

This was voiced by the Fiji National University Law Students during the commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

FNU Law Students Association President Arnold Chanel says it is essential for the legal community to be proactive in challenging injustice and standing against any form of discrimination.

Association Treasurer Timoci Mocebalavu says their participation in this event reinforces the Association’s commitment to justice and equality.

Mocebalavu says the law has the power to bring about meaningful change and that law students must play a role in shaping a fairer and more inclusive society.

He says they remain dedicated to promoting legal education, social justice and active participation in national discussions that impact the legal and human rights landscape of Fiji.
