People’s Alliance Leader, Sitiveni Rabuka stresses that the FijiFirst Government has not consulted with majority of the people when it comes to bringing in new laws in the country, and many laws just came through the Parliamentary Standing Order 51.
Rabuka says Standing Order 51 is a facilitating standing order for emergency Bills that are brought in for enactment in the time available to parliament.
He says it should not be used for just about all Bills as the current Government has done without public consultation.
While reacting to Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama’s comments in the Ra Provincial Council meeting where he had said that their provincial boundary was re-drawn without consultation in the 1990s and the government is committed to consult with the council and others who are affected by this as they have always done, Rabuka asks who have they been consulting.
Rabuka also says there has not been a proper consultation method used by the current Government when dealing with iTaukei related issues.
