People’s Alliance Party Leader Sitiveni Rabuka says the official launch of his party today marks as what he sees as a first step towards reshaping the destiny of Fiji and rescuing it from the clutches of those who have taken them to be where they do not want to be.
While speaking at the launch of his party in Nawaka, Nadi, Rabuka says it is about reversing the damages and pain brought about by long years of tyranny, intolerance, arrogance and bad governance.
Rabuka further says their troubles are many and they go deep adding the party today begins a great journey.
The former Prime Minister says his party aims for a state of unity, shared prosperity, happiness and freedom.
Rabuka says when he was pondering his future after his departure as the Opposition Leader, he was urged by the young people to start his own party.
He adds they were concerned about the incompetent national leadership and which showed uncertainty and created a threatening atmosphere and did what it pleased.
Rabuka says he empathized with what he heard and that is how the party began.
He adds when they launched their application with the Registrar of Political Parties, there were hardly any objections and those that came were easily answered.
Rabuka also paid tribute to the lives lost due to COVID-19.
