A memorable day for the Fiji Navy as their L-class ship RFNS Lautoka departed Suva Harbour for the last time, towed by RFNS Timo, to be scuttled.

The vessel, which served Fiji for 37 years, officially ended its service with the Republic of Fiji Navy after decades of maritime operations.

Commissioned in October 1987, RFNS Lautoka played a crucial role in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) missions, as well as various security and patrol operations.

Over the years, the ship and its crew contributed significantly to safeguarding Fiji’s waters.

The Navy expressed gratitude for the ship’s long-standing service and the dedication of the personnel who served aboard.

The decommissioning marks the end of an era as Fiji continues to modernize its naval fleet.
