Farmers in Punjab, India are protesting outside movie theatres screening Akshay Kumar’s film Bellbottom as the actor had earlier hinted that farmers’ protests were propaganda and urged people not to fall for it.
India Times reports Kumar’s statement on Twitter in February this year had angered farmers and a lot of Punjabi artists had also slammed Kumar for his hypocrisy.
Kumar is known for his role as a proud Punjabi in films such as Kesari, Singh is King and Singh is Bliing.
Meanwhile, Kumar plays a spy in Bellbottom which released in some theatres in India and other countries.
The film also stars Adil Hussain, Vani Kapoor, Huma Qureshi and Lara Dutta.
