The war of words continues between Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad and Fiji Labour Party Leader Mahendra Chaudhry.
In a statement, Chaudhry says Professor Prasad needs to cut out this constant moaning about the billions that are needed to fix our national problems and get on with the task of doing it while Prasad says Chaudhry should wait for the budget.
Chaudhry says Labour is inclined to agree with FijiFirst MP Jone Usamate’s reaction that the Minister should cut out the ‘litany of woes’.
The former PM says that is good advice adding that Prasad knew exactly what he was getting into when he made big promises during the election campaign.
Chaudhry says Prasad knew about the $10 billion debt, he knew of the huge sums to be found to fix up the nation’s vital infrastructure such as roads, water supplies and the deteriorating state of our health services.
He adds Prasad knew that there was a lot of wastage and over-spending by the FijiFirst Government.
Chaudhry says in fact, Prasad is now sounding exactly like the Bainimarama government – blaming the previous government for the current woes of the nation.
He says Prasad was elected by the people to find solutions not to keep restating the problems.
While responding to Chaudhry, Prasad says they have clearly said they have set in a clear process to have a thorough dialogue and consultation.
He says the Fiscal Review Committee is doing its job.
