The transformation of primary health care has a very strong and legitimate delivery of prosperity, growth, physical sustainability and better economic growth.
This was highlighted by Deputy Prime Minister Professor Biman Prasad while officiating at the Transforming Primary Health Care workshop in Lami.
Professor Prasad says primary health care, from an economist's point of view, is absolutely important and it does impinge on several areas.
He says a much more integrated, efficient and effective primary health care is going to generally reduce the health costs in the country.
He adds when you reduce health costs and pay attention to primary health care, you also increase productivity, and any country, finance minister, or economist looking at how to grow the economy, will look at the state of our health services.
Professor Prasad says increased productivity is a direct result of good and effective primary health care.
The Deputy Prime Minister says that labour force participation and a good focus on primary health care can lead to increased participation in the labour market.
