President, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere has written to the Director of Public Prosecutions, Christopher Pryde to advise him of his suspension and that a Tribunal will be appointed to investigate allegations of misbehaviour.

Ratu Wiliame says the convening of a tribunal is in keeping with Chapter 5, Part A, Section 112 (3) of the Constitution of the Republic of Fiji.

He also informed Pryde that following the advice of the Judicial Services Commission, with regard to the nature of the complaints, it was appropriate that he be suspended pending referral to the tribunal.

In a hand-delivered letter, Ratu Wiliame told Pryde that he is suspended, and he is to take his overdue leave of 168 days which expires sometime in December 2023, and the same to take immediate effect.

Pryde was told that upon receipt of the letter, he was required to immediately hand over all official property, including but not limited to laptop, mobile phone and keys in his possession, to the Chief Registrar of the High Court.

The President has appointed former Deputy DPP, Ratu David George Toganivalu as the Acting DPP.

He wishes him well and hopes that Ratu David will uphold the dignity and integrity of the office.
