President acknowledges the contributions of the Rotumans to the accomplishments and achievements of Fiji
President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere

President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere says as a traditional Chief, he appreciates that our indigenous communities are able to preserve and observe our many traditions and cultural practices without obstacles.

While speaking during Rotuma Day Celebrations, Ratu Wiliame says he wishes to emphasise that we also use, promote, learn and teach our language and mother tongue to our children and grandchildren so that our identity is equally embraced and protected.

He says we continue to live harmoniously in our diversity.

Ratu Wiliame acknowledged the contributions of the Rotumans to the accomplishments and achievements of Fiji.

He also paid tribute to former President Jioji Konrote.

Ratu Wiliame says it would be rather remiss of him not to acknowledge the Government as it is focused on moving Fiji in a unified direction and creating confidence that allows all our people to put aside differences and work together and through our diversity to chart a newer and progressive future beneficial for all.
