President Katonivere awards medals to SSP Vusonilawe and Honorary Consul Dr Tahir in Bali
His Excellency, President Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere with the recipient of the Fiji Police Lons Service Medal and Fiji Police Medal SSP Kaliano Vusonilawe.

Senior Superintendent of Police and Director of Operations Kasiano Vusonilawe and Fiji’s Honorary Consul in Surabaya, Indonesia were 2 of the recipients who were awarded medals by President Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere during an investiture ceremony held today in Nusa Dusa, Bali, Indonesia.

SSP Vusonilawe who is currently studying Leadership Management in Indonesia was awarded the highest medal in the Fiji Police Force which is the Fiji Police Force Long Service Medal and the Fiji Police Medal.

He has served in the Fiji Police Force for 31 years, exceeding the 18 years required to qualify for the award and is an award for conspicuous gallantry or exceptional merit recognising officers who have demonstrated remarkable bravery in their duties.

Fiji's Consul in Indonesia Dato Sri Professor Dr Tahir, was awarded the Honorary Companion of the Order of Fiji in the General Division which recognises eminent achievement and merit of the highest degree for service to Fiji or humanity at large.

The 70-year-old has consistently supported initiatives championed by Fiji through its mission in Indonesia, fostering stronger diplomatic ties between the two nations and has made innumerable philanthropic contributions to worthy causes in Fiji and to the Fiji Mission.

Notable contributions have been made to charitable organizations such as the Foundation for the Education of Needy Children in Fiji.
