Former FijiFirst MP Vijendra Prakash has been sentenced to 36 months, and he will be serving 28 months in custody, with a non parole period of 22 months.
Prakash’s remaining 8 month sentence has been suspended for a period of 5 years.
He has 30 days to appeal.
Prakash was found guilty of illegally obtaining $33,670 in parliamentary allowances after eight weeks of trial last year.
He was charged by FICAC with one count each of giving false information to a public servant and obtaining financial advantage.
