Coming from a poor farming background has taught me the importance of quality education which will lead to better living standards for my family.

These were the words of Kavineel Kumar, who graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce with majors in Public Administration and Land Management from The University of the South Pacific.

The Balata, Tavua man is one of the 399 students who graduated from batch one and has become the first graduate in his family saying it is a dream come true for him.

Kumar says he is proud of his achievements after seeing the hardships faced by his parents trying their best to allow him to flourish with the resources available.

He is one of the 50,000 students who will not need to pay off his TELS debt and says he is pleased with the government's decision.

He adds that now he will be able to do more savings through which he will be able to do better things for his family.

Kumar also acknowledged his parents, teachers, lecturers and tutors for their continuous support towards his education journey.
