A police officer has been removed from driving and is being investigated by Internal Affairs after the police vehicle he was driving slammed into a parked vehicle along Joske Street in Suva yesterday.

There is a video of the accident being widely shared online.

It is yet to be established what caused the vehicle or the driver to fail to turn and avoid the crash along the empty street.

The police officer sustained injuries in the crash.

The Acting Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu has directed Internal Affairs to submit a report on the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Investigations continue.
