Police urge public not to share video of drowned former netball player and coach

The Fiji Police Force is urging the public to refrain from sharing or commenting on a video showing the victim of the recent alleged drowning incident involving a former netball player and coach in Navuso.

Police have confirmed that the video was recorded by a member of the public assisting in the search efforts, and not by any member of the official joint search team.

The Police emphasises that sharing the video shows a lack of empathy for the grieving family, adding that no one should have to endure such trauma for the sake of someone gaining likes and followers on social media.

Police stated that society must do better by maintaining a respectful and compassionate online environment, simply by being more thoughtful and considerate towards grieving families.

The Fiji Police Force urges everyone to maintain a respectful and considerate online environment.
