Police officers are carrying out operations around the country to get rid of illegal activities in the forestry sector.

The Ministry of Forestry has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Fiji Police Force for officers to carry out these operations.

The Permanent Secretary for Forestry, Pene Baleinabuli says they know about the illegal activities that are happening but are not sure if it supported by the forestry officials.

Baleinabuli says they have received reports but there is no evidence to prove this.

He says the operation will also help them to sustainably manage the natural resources.

Acting Police Commissioner, Rusiate Tudravu says they are ready to curb illegal activities through these operations.
