A Police officer who is alleged to have raped a woman at the Valelevu Police single men's quarters on Sunday has been arrested and is in custody.
Police say the Criminal Investigations Department’s Major Crime Unit continues with the investigation, and as directed by the Acting Commissioner of Police Sakeo Raikaci, the investigation file will be submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for independent legal advice as soon as possible.
A/ACP Raikaci says progress on the investigation will be provided in due course.
A/ACP Raikaci had earlier directed the quick arrest of the suspect, as he fled the scene following the alleged incident.
