Police call for action from authorities on glue sniffing, and stolen items and drugs found at food stalls in Suva City
CFL News Director Vijay Narayan and Director of Operations, SSP Kasiano Vusonilawe

Police are calling for urgent action from the Suva City Council and the government to look at the increasing cases of glue sniffing and the granting of licences to food stalls in Suva City at night.

Director of Operations, SSP Kasiano Vusonilawe revealed on fijivillage Straight Talk With Vijay Narayan that they have set up tents at the Suva Handicraft Centre and Victoria Parade at night due to increasing criminal activities.

SSP Vusonilawe says based on their earlier checks, they have found drugs and stolen items at some of the food stalls.

He says the government has to decide on what can be done to curb glue sniffing as it is not classified as an illicit substance.

The Director of Operations says this is a real challenge for the force as there are many young people and adults seen sniffing glue on a daily basis.

SSP Vusonilawe says even when they confiscate the tins of glue, the same people are seen again doing the same thing the next day.

He also says the stolen items and drugs found at the food stalls is a major issue.
