No person serving a prison sentence will be allowed to participate in the 2024 McDonald's Fiji Coral Coast 7s that will be held from the 18th to the 20th of January, 2024, at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka.

This is after the Fiji Women's Crisis Centre signed a Memorandum Of Understanding with the organisers of the tournament.

FWCC Coordinator Shamima Ali says they are thankful that they managed to secure the MOU with the Coral Coast 7s tournament organisers as they have been advocating on this since former national 7s rep Amenioni Nasilasila's case.

Coral Coast 7s Tournament Director Jay Whyte says they have a clause in their participation agreement with all teams that disallows players serving a custodial sentence to play.

Meanwhile, FWCC donated $25,000 in sponsorship towards the running of the tournament.

According to Whyte, the partnership will enable them to give prize parity in the women’s division.

16 men’s, 16 youth and 8 women’s team will compete at the 2024 McDonald's Fiji Coral Coast 7s.
