People on the island of Munia aim to raised $100,000 to reclaim ancestral island

The Yavusa of Munia in Vanuabalavu, Lau gathered today to raise funds in support of their efforts to purchase their island back.

The Turaga ni Koro of Yavea, Etuate Uni, says the Munia people are striving to reclaim their ancestral island, which they were forced to leave decades ago.

Uni says this land holds immense cultural and spiritual significance, representing their identity, heritage, and way of life.

He adds their deep connection to their homeland and their commitment to preserving it for future generations.

Uni adds they are expecting to collect around $100,000 today.
