People are resorting to substance abuse like drugs, seeking happiness which are all illusions that deprive what our soul needs and that is the love of God.
Those are the words of the Head of the Catholic Church in Fiji, Archbishop Peter Loy Chong speaking after Ash Wednesday as Lent Season starts.
Archbishop Chong says that divine intervention is needed to combat this drug crisis that our nation is facing and God is the ultimate peace and power that can save us.
The Archbishop celebrated mass as people from all walks of life attended the church service in which he delivered his compelling message for lent.
He says the significance of having the ash on people's heads till holy Thursday is all about human existence.
Archbishop Chong further reiterates the importance of lending to people and says that we need to pray more for each other during these trying times we are facing as a nation, as the world, and as a family of God.
