The Consumer Council of Fiji is reminding members of the public that all passengers have the right to receive a receipt for their taxi journey.

According to the Council, issuing receipts is an important Public Service Vehicle (PSV) regulation, designed to protect passengers by providing a record of the fare, the taxi operator, and travel details.

If a taxi driver fails to provide a receipt, passengers are encouraged to report the incident by calling the Council’s Toll-Free Helpline at 155, and when making a report, passengers should provide the taxi number, along with the date and time of the trip.

The Council emphasised that taxi drivers who fail to comply with this regulation are committing an offence.
