Pacific leaders to endorse Ocean of Peace Declaration at Leaders Meeting in Honiara

Officials across the Pacific are working to finalise the Ocean of Peace Declaration ahead of the upcoming Pacific Islands Forum Leaders’ Meeting in the Solomon Islands this September.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka highlighted this during his address at the National Press Club in Australia, where he stated that as a Pacific family, leaders must take a stand in Honiara for an Ocean of Peace.

Rabuka says his visit to Australia focused on the Fiji-Australia Vuvale Partnership, including its connection to the Ocean of Peace initiative.

He says that the Ocean of Peace can serve as a platform to share with a global audience concepts central to the Pacific Way—articulating how those within and beyond the Blue Pacific can embrace opportunities to collaborate and resolve differences with respect and mutual understanding.

Rabuka also highlighted that by championing the Ocean of Peace, Pacific nations are giving substance to the concept, which aligns with the region’s longstanding traditions of peace-building through dialogue, consensus, and communal restoration.
