PM suggests to Permanent Secretaries to set up a HIV/AIDS taskforce

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says we have crisis with HIV/AIDS in the country that requires a multi-faceted approach and has suggested to the Permanent Secretaries set up a HIV/AIDS taskforce.

While speaking to Permanent Secretaries at an induction ceremony, Rabuka says he is going to present them with a challenge and he is going to ask them to come back with preliminary recommendations within a few weeks.

Rabuka says it is not a problem for just the Ministry of Health, there are many social, cultural and community factors.

He says he asked the Minister for Health that why can’t we have mobile teams and get fit for purpose vehicles or get it donated and lets get back to the people.

He adds the government is here to the listen to the advice of the Permanent Secretaries and the government will carry out the mission, finds the funds and get the mission done.
