A 22-year-old man has passed away following a road accident in Lautoka early this morning.
Police say the man was a passenger in a vehicle that was heading towards the Lautoka Hospital when it is alleged the driver tried to overtake a car near Drasa Avenue when their vehicle hit an oncoming vehicle.
A post-mortem will be conducted to confirm the victim's cause of death.
Police investigations continue.
The national road death toll currently stands at 12 compared to 19 for the same period last year.
We are also trying to contact the Land Transport Authority on what they are doing regarding the issue of unsafe drivers.
