SODELPA has had the first round of separate discussions with the People’s Alliance and FijiFirst Party last night based on the possibility that it may hold the balance of power – and SODELPA General Secretary, Lenaitasi Duru says their non-negotiable issues are like the iTaukei and education related policies in their manifesto.
Duru says they are expected to hold further negotiations later today.
In their manifesto, SODELPA has clearly stated they will bring back the Great Council of Chiefs and repeal laws like the former Bill No.17 which is the iTaukei Land Trust Budget Amendment Act, forgive TELS loans and make tertiary education free.
Duru says right now they are sitting in the middle, watching and waiting for what is on offer, and then make a decision for the people of this country.
Duru says they are hoping for the best.
He says right now, both FijiFirst Party Leader, Voreqe Bainimarama and People’s Alliance Leader, Sitiveni Rabuka have not come to the negotiation table.
Duru says they would appreciate it if they can come and talk to them as they are just sending their people.
