The Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has told parliament that the special audit done by the Office of the Auditor General in 2020 on the allocation of lots by the Housing Authority of Fiji was not a very good audit.
He says a lot more could have been done by the Office of the Auditor General.
Sayed-Khaiyum adds the Office of the Auditor General did not meet the terms of reference.
He further said in parliament that they have been informed that perhaps people from the Office of the Auditor General may have acquired some of those lots as well and may have not been necessarily entitled to it.
A special-purpose audit on the allocation of lots for the past 10-years by the Housing Authority of Fiji was conducted by the Office of the Auditor-General in July 2020.
The investigation report by the Office of the Auditor-General highlighted a number of anomalies which includes several cases for suspected fraud and possible collusion between staff and customers.
These matters were referred to FICAC.
