Nurses and staff at Navua Hospital are frustrated about years of ongoing water and power outage

Navua Hospital needs to be rewired – Dr Fong

Nurses and staff at the Navua Hospital are frustrated about the water and power outage that has been ongoing for the past years, and nothing has been done to fix the issue at the hospital.

A concerned citizen who wishes not to be named contacted fijivillage News over the weekend to raise her concern, as patients admitted at the hospital were without water and electricity for two days.

She says power and water outages happen almost three days a week, resulting in no proper sanitation for the patients and no water to drink.

She adds that a 90-year-old and a 70-year-old patient admitted at the hospital need more care due to no support from their family members in providing for their diapers.

She also pleads to the government to step in and look into the water and power outages faced at the hospital for several years.

Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services, Dr James Fong says he has been told that the whole wiring in the hospital needs to be redone.

Dr Fong says this was not appropriately configured right from when the hospital was built and he is working with Energy Fiji Limited for the rewiring phases.
