Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says nothing pains him more than seeing world leaders actively ignoring the existence of a crisis that they helped create, and a crisis that they will not live to see the consequences of which is climate change.

Bainimarama highlighted this during the National Youth Climate Action Summit held at the Grand Pacific Hotel.

He says their inaction is infuriating.

Bainimarama says we must act now for every moment of inaction is a moment the world cannot back.

The Prime Minister says our nation is leading on this issue and Fiji is committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Bainimarama says we have a ground-breaking Climate Change Bill in the consultation process that will keep us accountable to net-zero ambition.

He urged the youths to read that Bill, as it is a development defining piece of legislation.

Bainimarama says Fiji is also doing the hard work of adapting to climate impacts, investing in resilient infrastructure, relocating vulnerable communities, and harnessing nature to build powerful buffers between Fijians and the rising seas.
