No street lights in Tacirua East raises safety concerns for residents

Tacirua East residents have no street lights in their area and they are raising concerns regarding their safety at night, as everyone who gets off Khalsa Road has to walk to their homes in darkness.

fijivillage News has spoken to many residents in the area who are asking why no street lights have been installed by the Fiji Roads Authority and how are the authorities planning subdivisions without having these basic services.

They say poles have been allocated in their area however installment of lights has not been carried out which increases safety risks for the residents.

They are also questioning whether the FRA will start acting when people are attacked or robbed.

While responding to our questions, FRA says they are committed to implementing a plan that will enhance visibility and safety along Tacirua East Road.

FRA further says they have scoped the area and understand the importance of adequate street lighting for ensuring road safety and are currently exploring various solutions to address this issue.

They add as part of their ongoing maintenance program, they will plan the installation of streetlights and will keep the community updated on our progress.
