No longer possible to score a try by grounding the ball against the post protector – World Rugby
A rugby match where players demonstrated to have used the post protectors to their advantage.

World Rugby has announced that, with immediate effect, it will no longer be possible to score a try by grounding the ball against the post protector.

They say the increasing size of post protectors, for safety reasons, meant it had become "difficult for teams to legally defend this area.

World Rugby says in some extreme cases, post protectors have been lifted or moved by defending teams, leaving the posts exposed and therefore increasing the risk of injury.

Chairman Sir Bill Beaumont says World Rugby's mission is to make the game as simple, safe and enjoyable to play as possible.
