There is no official confirmation on when the court martial will be held for the crew of the RFNS Puamau that caused the multi-million dollar Fiji Navy vessel to be grounded on the Fulaga reef in Lau earlier this year.

Minister for Home Affairs Pio Tikoduadua says as part of the disciplinary measures imposed on those responsible for the grounding of the vessel, the Fiji Navy Commanding Officer, and his team responsible for the grounding could be court-martialled.

Tikoduadua says the findings of the Board of Inquiry are both serious and concerning.

According to him, they highlight significant breaches in professional and accepted navigation practices and mariner skills and the negligence and non-adherence to best management processes by the Commanding Officer and his team are regrettable.

Tikoduadua says they are committed to ensuring that such incidents are thoroughly investigated, and appropriate measures are taken to prevent any recurrence.
