A 19-year-old woman will give evidence in her uncle’s rape trial which will begin next Wednesday.
Suva High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo was told that the 27-year-old man was drinking alcohol with his niece and her 21-year-old friend when the alleged incident occurred in Suva in 2018.
He is charged with two counts of attempted rape.
The three had gone back to the house which the man shared with his niece.
His niece's friend was asleep when it is alleged that the man attempted to rape her.
The court was told the woman woke up and managed to save herself by running into another room.
The man’s bail has been extended.
The trial will be from the 12th to the 17th of this month.
