85 households and students of Naqaqa SDA Primary School in Ra now have access to clean and improved water supply following the commissioning of their new rural water project by the Minister for Public Works, Ro Filipe Tuisawau.
The project is funded by the Government, at a cost of $160,000.
Ro Filipe says this project stands as a shining example of what can be achieved through collaborative efforts.
He says the project involved the construction of a new dam, two 10,000-litre reservoirs, and pipe fittings to ensure water reaches every household in this village and the surrounding area.
He adds that the impact of this initiative extends far beyond the pipes and reservoirs.
The Minister says this initiative underscores their commitment to providing essential services to every citizen, regardless of location or circumstances.
He says this project is a significant step towards achieving our national vision outlined in the 20-year National Development Plan — a vision where every Fijian has access to clean and safe water.
Ro Filipe says the water project symbolizes hope, health, and progress for the Naqaqa SDA Primary School, as well as the wider community.
He further says clean water is not just a necessity but a fundamental human right, and as future leaders of our nation, he encourages them to cherish and protect this invaluable resource.
