New Zealand Rugby set to ditch SANZAAR, Super Rugby

Leaked reports are stating that New Zealand Rugby will be exiting from the SANZAAR Super Rugby competition.

Mediaworks reports that New Zealand Rugby will be forming their competition known as Rugby Aratipu that would include a team from the Pacific, while SANZAAR will run the Rugby Championship involving the test teams. New Zealand Rugby had announced in April that it would expand an existing review into Super Rugby.

Blues coach Leon Macdonald was quoted in the report saying that as long as this competition keeps the qualities of rugby that will make the tournament successful.

Meanwhile, Sanzaar boss Andy Marinos remains optimistic about playing the Rugby Championship later this year and that a full Super Rugby Competition will commence normal next year.
