Minister for Employment Agni Deo Singh says the new Employment Relations Act will be in place before June this year.
He highlighted this while speaking to members of the Fiji Trade Union Congress after a consultation on the proposed amendments to the Act last night.
Singh says they had a good session with the Fiji Trade Union Congress, and upon their request, it was not open to the public.
He says the Ministry is working on all the comments, suggestions, and recommendations made throughout the various consultations.
Singh says they will make their own assessment and decide what can be accommodated within the rules.
He says once that is done, the Act will go to the Employment Relations Advisory Board, then Cabinet, Parliament, and undergo another round of consultations before being passed in Parliament.
FTUC National Secretary Felix Anthony says they hope the suggestions made will be considered and included in the new Bill.
He says they look forward to the Bill making its way to Parliament in March, as they have waited for two years.
People have until this Friday to give their written submissions on the Employment Relations Act and the Work Care Bill.
