Fiji-born Highlanders winger Jona Nareki has described their 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific campaign as very disappointing, considering that they currently sit at the bottom of the points table.
During an interview on Radio NZ, Nareki says he thinks it is just because they are a young team and experience certain situations in the game where they should be doing things they are not doing.
He says he feels that it all comes down to experience, and hopefully, they have gained a lot this season.
He adds that pushing forward, they will take those experiences along with them because he thinks they will have the same players for next season.
Nareki has been battling some injuries this season, and it has limited his game time for the Highlanders this year.
The Kadavu man has been rested for this week’s round 15 clash against the Crusaders in the Battle of the South Island after he was taken off early in their match against the Hurricanes last weekend.
Meanwhile, Timoci Tavatavanawai and Jacob Kneepkens-Ratumaitavuki have been named to start for the Highlanders against the Crusaders.
Tavatavanawai will start at inside centre and Ratumaitavuki will start at fullback.
The Highlanders will take on the Crusaders at 7.05pm Friday at Orangetheory Stadium in Christchurch.
In other Super Rugby Pacific round 15 matches this week, the Reds will take on the Hurricanes at 9.35pm Friday, the Chiefs will host Moana Pasifika at 7.05pm Saturday, and the Force will take on the Waratahs at 9.35pm Saturday.
