Naidu's appeal for the court to set aside ex-parte order and to cross-examine the AG denied

Suva High Court Judge Jude Nanayakkara has denied Richard Naidu's lawyer's appeal against the High Court’s decision to not set aside the ex-parte order and its order to not let Naidu’s counsel to cross examine the Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

The Judge has also denied their application for stay on proceedings and they have been ordered to pay $3,000 as costs.

Naidu's lawyer, Jon Apted is currently making submissions to cross examine Sayed-Khaiyum during the substantial proceedings.

Naidu allegedly posted on his Facebook page a picture of a judgement in a case represented by his associate that had the word 'injunction' misspelt, and then made some comments that he was pretty sure the applicant wanted an injunction.

The committal proceedings has been brought against Naidu by the Attorney General.

Meanwhile, the hearing on the committal proceedings will take place on the 10th and 11th of November.

More to follow.
