A man who has made his mission to try and keep other people away from pornographic material says he is doing this after witnessing his father sexually abuse his mother after reading about it in explicit magazines.
He said this while speaking at the Fiji Free from Porn Awareness which was organized by People’s Alliance member Lynda Tabuya.
The man says the incidents happened when he was a child and almost every night he could hear his mother cry because of the things she was going through.
The man adds his parents passed away when he was young and he lived most of his life with different families.
He says from what he saw, people were treating women like they were only in the world for sex.
The father of 5 also says people who are watching porn should stop immediately because it will not only affect them but their family and the community as well.
He says porn is just like a termite which does not look harmful at all but will eat you from within.
He says people who watch porn are basically supporting an abusive industry.
The Nadi man says he recently saw a Year 3 student enter a internet shop and search for explicit content online.
He says it is the responsibility of every parent to watch their children like a hawk and teach them the right values and principles.
Meanwhile, People’s Alliance member Lynda Tabuya says porn is going to be the drug in the 21st century that will continue to rob our children of their innocence.
Tabuya says as a parent she has tried to institute boundaries at home for the good of her children and herself.
She says they have family audits every Mondays where they check each others phones.
Tabuya says she has failed a few times but as a parent she is trying her best.
She says we need guardians and warriors to fight against this new drug.
