National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad says the Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum should not be attacking people not in parliament especially those from the media but Sayed-Khaiyum says what they want is for media organisations to stop hiding behind the facade of saying they are independent and doing balanced reporting when they are not.

Professor Prasad says it does not look very good on the government to start attacking journalists when they do not like the news or when it does not go in their favour.

He was responding to Sayed-Khaiyum’s comments in parliament today about CFL News Director Vijay Narayan and Fiji Times journalist Anish Chand.

Sayed-Khaiyum says there is nothing stifling about what is happening as nobody is actually stopped from printing anything and there is no censorship.

He adds many would argue that the quality of journalism has gone done.

Sayed-Khaiyum adds there is nothing wrong with a media organisation taking an editorial position.

He says there is nothing wrong with this as long as they declare their interest.
