Children aged 10 to 12 years old are seen loitering at around 10.30pm at night in the Muanikoso Housing area.
Residents have raised concerns that majority of these young children are iTaukei, and many girls have been seen in the area late at night.
Questions are being raised why these under-aged people are allowed to loiter at night and what are Police and the parents doing about this.
We have also asked whether the parents can be taken to task for negligence.
Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations, Livai Driu told fijivillage News that no child should be loitering at night and the onus is on parents and guardians to take responsibility for their child's welfare and safety.
ACP Driu says parents and guardians need to step up and play their part in watching over their children daily.
He says if anything happens, they will look at the issue of negligence.
ACP Driu says Police also conduct patrols at night along these areas.
