More than 20 farming families who live in Vunivere, Seaqaqa are in urgent need of food and tents as all their crops and houses were destroyed during TC Yasa.
Liaqat Ali says his family is currently taking shelter in their house after partially repairing it with the remaining material they had collected from the sugarcane farms and nearby area.
Ali says he had 1,400 tonnes of sugarcane and 10 tonnes of watermelons, chillies and eggplants that were destroyed.
He says they are currently surviving on the donations they received from a person from Nausori.
Ali says most of the people from the area are staying at the Vunimanuca Primary School evacuation centre and some of them have partially repaired their houses and staying in it. But food is a major concern for them as they have lost everything.
He says they are still cleaning their house and drying up the furniture.
