More rain, flash flooding and stronger winds Tropical Cyclone Kevin intensifies into a category 2 system

More rain is expected in the Western Division and the maritime islands as Tropical Cyclone Kevin located about 410 kilometres west-northwest off Santo, Vanuatu, intensifies into a category 2 system.

A Heavy Rain Alert has been issued for the Northern parts of Ba and Ra, greater Nadi, Lautoka and Ba area, interior of Ba and Nadroga-Navosa, Sigatoka, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Lau and Lomaiviti groups.

A Strong Wind Warning remains in force for the land areas of Nadi, Lautoka and Ba, Yasawa and Mamanuca groups.

The Nadi Weather Office says Cyclone Kevin is expected to have average winds of upto 95 kilometres per hour with gusts up to 130 kilometres per hour.

They are also saying Cyclone Kevin is currently tracking east-southeast at 25 kilometres per hour.

Meanwhile, TC Judy has weakened into a category 3 system and continues to move away from Vanuatu.
