Assurance has been given that there will be an increase in the number police officers patrolling our streets and visiting communities today and the New Year's long weekend.

Chief Operations Officer ACP Abdul Khan says they are particularly focused on traffic operations because of the road fatalities recorded in the last few days.

He says there will be an increase in coverage on the highways.

ACP Khan says the most important thing is for people to plan to leave early before the curfew.

He is asking everyone to plan their church services within the curfew hours especially if they live in villages.

ACP Khan says if people are within the church during curfew hours, that is fine with them.

He says they will be visiting areas where New Year's Eve parties have been organized like hotels to ensure restrictions like no dancing are followed.

ACP Khan says they also have more than 30 officers in Vanua Levu for TC Yasa operations.
