Ministry of Youth and Sports reviewing Sports Policy, Anti Doping Policy and National Youth Policy

The Ministry of Youth and Sports is reviewing the Fiji National Sports Policy, The Fiji Anti Doping Policy and the Fiji National Youth Policy.

Permanent Secretary for Youth and Sports Rovereto Nayacalevu highlighted this during the Annual Community Sports Association Forum held at Harbour Point Center in Lami and says they are in the review process of consulting all key stakeholders including youths, before finalising a draft for the cabinet to consider and to complete this process before the end of this year.

He says with improving institutions and infrastructure, increased international positioning and recognition, the Fijian Government is committed to developing conducive policies that provide tactical support systems and programmes focused on meeting the socio-economic needs of Fiji's youth and strengthening social inclusion.

Nayacalevu further says as an island nation, Fiji has tremendous potential that is yet to be fully realized.

He adds the Government duly recognizes sports as an industry as we move onto this era of sports professionalism with the need to develop elite athletes.

The Permanent Secretary adds that through this, they will increase levels of participation in sports and physical activity supported by coaches, technical officials and other specialists.
