40 employers and a large number of job seekers were part of the 2024 Mini Job Fair in Nadi, which is targeted to facilitate employment opportunities and foster economic growth.
While officiating at the event, Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations Agni Deo Singh says the key objective of this Mini job fair is to bring together job seekers and potential employers.
He says they recognize that finding suitable employment can be a daunting task, and through this initiative, they seek to create a platform where opportunities and talent converge.
Singh says the fair serves as a conduit for employers to showcase their job openings or opportunities and conduct on-site interviews, offering immediate prospects for employment to many deserving individuals.
The Minister highlighted that it is imperative that we provide our job seekers with the necessary tools and opportunities to excel, and this job fair is not just about securing jobs; it is about building careers, fostering professional growth, and ensuring sustainable livelihoods and economic growth.
He adds by facilitating direct interactions between our local employers and job seekers, the Ministry aim to create a more inclusive and robust job market.
Singh says the NEC Act 2009 places a social responsibility on employers to promote employment through the engagement of suitably qualified unemployed persons as attachés or volunteers on a ratio of at least 5 percent of the total number of workers if employing more than 50 workers.
The Minister says his Ministry, through the National Employment Centre, remains steadfast in its commitment to facilitating employment opportunities and empowering our unemployed citizens.
Employers at the Fair stated that there were numerous vacancies to fill, and this opportunity made things much more convenient for them.
