Manasa Mataele made a winning start to his Canterbury career as they kicked off the 2020 Mitre 10 Cup with a comfortable 43-29 win over North Harbour last night.
Mataele joined Canterbury this year after four seasons with Taranaki.
Crusaders captain Cody Taylor scored twice for Canterbury while George Bridge, Rameka Poihipi, Cullen Grace and Isaiah Punivai scored a try each.
Canterbury led 22-21 at the break before the injection of Richie Mo’unga in the second half ignited their attack.
