A 22-year-old man from Verata, Nausori who stole tithe envelopes containing $2,340 cash from the Centenary Methodist Church will be sentenced next Friday.
Shain Zoher Razak appeared before Suva Magistrate Waleen George and has pleaded guilty to one count of sacrilege.
The court was told that Razak has been facing financial and family problems and was not in the right frame of mind when he committed the offence.
Magistrate George has told Razak to seek spiritual help after his sentence.
Police say that the accused was acting in a suspicious manner and upon searching, they found more than 10 envelopes containing money in it.
They say the man entered the church and took the envelopes from the church's offering box.
He has been remanded in custody.
