Man pleads guilty to trespassing at PM's residence
Mokani farmer, Waisea Naitini

Mokani farmer, Waisea Naitini, who was found trespassing at Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s residence on Saturday, has pleaded guilty to one count of criminal trespass.

The 30 year old will be sentenced next Monday.

Naitini appeared before Magistrate Charles Ratakele this afternoon.

When asked by Magistrate Ratakele why he was at the Prime Minister’s residence, Naitini said that he came to ask Rabuka for help regarding something in his village.

Police Prosecution Sergeant Sharmila Lata objected to bail and Naitini has been remanded in custody.

Police Commissioner, Rusiate Tudravu says the incident occurred before midday on Saturday, and the suspect was arrested.

Tudravu says the suspect was initially turned away by officers at the main gate as he had no prior appointment or clearance and was later arrested when he had gained entry from the back of the compound.
