A 30-year-old man from Kanakana Village, Savusavu has passed away due to a road accident yesterday.
Police say the victim was returning home after a night out with a relative yesterday morning and was walking towards Savusavu Town when they parted ways.
They say a man in his 30s from Nabaci Village is currently being questioned at the Savusavu Police Station as he is alleged to have run over the victim who was lying on the road.
Police were notified of the incident by a taxi driver whose nephew witnessed the alleged incident.
The road death toll currently stands at 5 compared to 15 for the same period last year.
