A man who was arrested on Saturday for allegedly trying to rob and rape a foreign national at a private villa in Rakiraki remains in police custody this morning.
Police say the suspect had allegedly stolen a vehicle, driven it to the scene, entered the villa, stole cash and assorted items and then attempted to rape one of the victims.
Both victims managed to escape and alerted Police.
Police officers arrested the suspect and sustained injuries in the process.
